My Healthy Pancreas Kids, as I call her, is 9 today. Happy Birthday! I love you so much and I hope you keep the title of healthy pancreas kid. Life has had it twists and turns and through it you have been a awesome big sister. You do watch after your younger sisters with diabetes. Not perfectly all the time, but who does. But you have smiled through it all. And that is worth a few stories on a blog post.
My first blog post was about you. The story inspired me to blog and it also inspired me to write a children’s book (not finished). It started as a scared little girl seeing her youngest sister getting diagnosed with the same life long chronic disease her other sister has. So there came the idea of Dr Bear. Its her favorite stuffed animal. And when Rufus and Rufus stayed home when we went to the Friends For Life Conference, it was Dr Bear that made the trip to Florida.
We have a family tradition of just me taking the girls to do something fun on your birthday. Most likely she will pick a move and ice cream. I will be a fun time like it always is. But this time meters and diabetes supplies stay home. We will let Dr Bear watch over that while we are gone.
Godspeed
Tim
Happy, Happy Birthday!
Love your tradition of taking them out…what special memories for you and for them!
We went and watched the movie brave. We had lots of fun and laughs. Thanks for reading.
